The Rainbow Portrait

The Rainbow Portrait at Hatfield House. This is one of the most important portraits regarding Elizabeth I.Because through the clothes whe was wearing a message was passed by. She had wired wings , as an "angel-like"figure.The pearls of her necklace signify peace and purity(she was supposed to be the Virgin Queen),the jeweled snake symbolizes widsom, the ruby heart symbolizes Love.So that means she ruled with her heart and head. And as you can see the dress is full of eyes and ears, meaning she could hear and see everything you did. The picture is called the rainbow portrait because Elizabeth is holding something that resembles a rainbow(now the colours faded away) and above there is an inscription saying "Without the sun you don't get the rainbow".So that means Elizabeth was the sun and the rainbow was the peace she gave her people.
